Prayer Fast Focus: To increase in Spiritual Hunger and Holiness
~ By Min Vivian McClean, KDWM USA
Greetings Brothers and Sisters:
It was Daniel’s practice to go to an upstairs room in his apartment and pray three times a day. He would make it a practice to open the window facing Jerusalem, get down on his knees, and pray to the one true God.
Daniel had special times set aside each day to meet with God in prayer. In fact, this special time in prayer with God was such a priority to Daniel that when the King passed a decree that for the next thirty days people could only pray to the King: Daniel was unfazed. When the King’s decree conflicted with God’s Law (prayer), Daniel’s choice was clear. He made the choice to keep right on praying to God. As a result, Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den. However, God protected, delivered, and honored him.
Can you see the wisdom here? Will you be like Daniel and adhere to your special time with God no matter what those of the world may demand?
Wisdom suggests setting aside special times throughout each day to meet with God in prayer should be our priority. These special moments should be a time of prayer we cherish, protect, and prioritize. There is power in praying throughout the day and having ongoing conversations with our Father.
Let’s continue to make spending time in prayer with God throughout the day a priority. Be like Daniel and set aside special times throughout the day to have ongoing conversations with our Father. Make this your special time to talk, connect, listen and be in prayer with God. HE will surely fill you up, restore your soul, and prepare you for whatever the day may bring.
Reflection of Prayer and Fasting:
• What are your thoughts about Daniel’s commitment to God?
• How will you prioritize prayer within your everyday routine?
• What special time will you set aside each day to talk and listen to God?
Meditation of Scriptures:
Psalm 51: 10-12 NIV:
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Daniel 6:10 NIV:
Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
Prayer: Lord, awaken our hearts to Your love. Give us an increased hunger to spend more time in prayer, worship, and Your Word. Gracious Master give us a greater awareness of Your holiness. Fill us with a tender conscience. Father, transplant a heart within us that pleases You in every thought, word, and deed of our lives. In Jesus’s name. Amen

Heavenly Father, thank you for angelic assistance, you have given your angels charge over my life to protect and strengthen me. They are Mighty Warriors who carry out your commands (Psalms 103:20). Just as you sent an angel before the children of Israel to guard them on the way to the promised land; I pray that you will command your angels to do the same for me. In the name of Jesus, I command the angel of protection to accompany, protect and fight for me as I am led of your will to ______. They are spirits sent to serve those who are to inherit salvation.
I rebuke the hindering spirits of Satan! Just as you sent Michael, the Archangel, a chief prince to assist with getting your answer to Daniel, I pray that you will do the same for me concerning ______. I am an heir of salvation! (Hebrews 1:14) You have given angels charge over my life and all that concerns me; to keep me in all my ways (Psalms 91: 11). In Jesus' name, Amen.
~ Prayer by J.M. Farro
Lord, I thank You for giving me power and authority to trample on serpents and scorpions (thoughts, ways that Satan tries to bind me and taint my soul), and to overcome all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means harm me or my family. (Luke 10:19) Therefore, in the mighty name and authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy One of God, I bind you Satan! (Matthew 18:18) And I bind all of your principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and all spiritual wickedness in heavenly places. I render you powerless and ineffective against me and my family, in the name of Jesus. We are loosed from your assignment, Satan! We are the property of Almighty God, and we give you no place!
We dwell in the secret place of the Most High. We abide under the shadow of the Almighty, whose power no foe can withstand. We say of the Lord: “O Lord, You are our refuge and our fortress. You are our God — in YOU we trust. Surely You shall deliver us! (Psalm 91:1-3) Though a thousand fall at our side, though ten thousand at our right hand, it shall NOT come near us. Only with our eyes will we behold and see the punishment of the wicked. (Psalm 91:7-8)
No weapon formed against us shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against us, we shall condemn and prove wrong. (Isaiah 54:17)
Greater is He who is in us, than He who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord, in Jesus’ name! (Joshua 24:15)
Lord, strengthen and establish us; protect us from the evil one, and from all evil. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
Rescue us from every evil attack and lead us safely to Your heavenly kingdom. (2 Timothy 4:18)

O' Most High, in your secret place is where I dwell, under the shadow of your wings where no harm can reach me. There, you keep me safe from those who want to hurt me; you save and defend me from sinful people. The evil plans in their heart against me will never prevail! I am covered in the blood of Jesus. My enemies are consumed and devoured by the fire of the Holy Ghost. The blood of Jesus is against them. Haggai 1:5 (NKJV) - "Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: "Consider your ways!"
Haggai 1:5 (NIV) - "Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways."
The essence of the message from Prophet Haggai was all their efforts were getting them nowhere. They plant but reap no harvest, they drink but remain thirsty, they put on clothes but are still cold. What they were doing was not working.
If things in your life are not working, then it’s time to consider your ways.
Haggai was sent to these people to help get their priorities back in line with what’s pleasing to God. We read that these people had begun to drift away from God, and they lived with misplaced priorities. Nothing or no one in our lives should take the place of God! We must keep 'first things first', and seeking God and His ways should always be our first priority!
If there are things not working in our lives the way they should be working according to the Word of God, then remember, there is nothing wrong with God’s Word, there’s nothing wrong with God… we must look within and consider our ways!
In the book of Haggai, the Temple had been destroyed by the Babylonian empire seventy years earlier and God had charged the people with the task of rebuilding the Temple. But they kept putting it off. Instead, they built their own good houses, and they left the house of God in ruin, even though He had given them the assignment, "rebuild the Temple.”
They kept saying, “It’s not time.” They went about pursuing their own dreams, their own desires, and their own wants, and neglected the house of God.
Haggai’s message to the people was put first things first. For the Temple to lie in ruins was not only an indication that they were prone to procrastination, but it also indicated a neglect in worshiping God.
I’ve discovered and observed over the years that when you get sloppy in some things, you also tend to get sloppy in your relationship with God as well. If you get sloppy in the mundane things, the things you do every day, then you usually get sloppy in your relationship with God.
They got sloppy and it surfaced in their relationship with God. In 1 Corinthians 10:11-12 from the MESSAGE Translation the Apostle Paul writes about stories from the Old Testament saying, “These are all warning markers—danger… written down so that we don’t repeat their mistakes.” The reason that we have this account in the book of Haggai is for our benefit. Why? So that we don’t repeat their mistakes.
I want to give you 5 principles I’ve learned from reading the book of Haggai:
1. Stop making excuses for not putting first things first.
2. Stop being selfish thinking only of your wants and your desires.
3. Take a good look of where you have put the things of God in your list of priorities.
4. Stop being the reason that your blessings are being blocked.
5. Let God hold the highest place in your life now and forever.
It’s time to put 'first things first' and receive the maximum and highest level of God’s best.
So, whatever happened to the people in Haggai? They eventually followed God’s instructions as they were given by Haggai as chapter 1 verse 14 reveals, “…they came and did work in the house of the Lord of hosts, their God.”
And now, look at the results in Haggai 2:19 where God says, “…from this day will I bless you.”
The words from the prophet stirred them up to action. And as a result, they received the blessing of God.
I’m asking you now, consider your ways. Don’t make excuses. Now is the time to seek God and put His ways first.
Jesus instructs you to, “Seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness, His way of doing and being right…” (Matthew 6:33 AMPC). I’ve said it like this many times before, when you do “His way of doing things,” then you’ll also get “His kind of results.” Put God and His way of doing things first in your life and step into the maximum and highest level attainable.

Father, I am a lost sinner in need of a Savior, forgive me of my sins. Jesus Christ, I believe that you are the Son of God and I believe that you died on the cross for my sins. I ask that you come into my heart and make me a Born-Again Believer. I confess you now as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
According to Romans 10:9, since you have openly confessed Jesus as Lord and have believed in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you are now saved!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
Father God, I rededicate my life to you, I give you, my heart! I am your child, have mercy on me. I repent for turning away from you, you have always loved me, you never turned your back on me. Restore to me the joy of serving you through a renewed personal relationship with your Son, Jesus Christ. In Jesus' Christ Name. Amen
Galatians 6:1 - Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.
Romans 12:1-2 - I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Luke 9:23 - And he said to all, "if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
